Longmont, CO: Longmont’s entrepreneurial community and innovative spirit will be showcased during Longmont’s fourth annual Startup Week, scheduled for July 23rd through 27th, 2018. Longmont Startup Week will include five days of networking events, panels, mentor talks, workshops, and guest speakers that bring together entrepreneurs, intrapreneurs, investors, and talent from across the country to invigorate and nurture Longmont’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. Events throughout the week will focus on creators, commerce, capital, and community and will highlight Longmont as hub for civic innovation. Longmont Economic Development Partnership, Startup Longmont, and dozens of volunteer committee members have been busy leading the planning and organizing of the week and excitement has been building around the community. On Friday, June 29th, in front of an audience of more than 50 people at CoSolve the greatly anticipated schedule of events was unveiled on the newly launched Longmont Startup Week website www.longmontstartupweek.com. This site was developed in partnership with a local web development firm, gooWee, and students at the St. Vrain Valley School District’s Innovation Center. gooWee donated their time and talent to mentor students there, teaching them the coding language they used to develop the site.
Some highlights of the week’s speakers include:
- Morgan Smith, Boettcher scholar and co-founder of the Roosevelt Institute at Denver University
- Dr. Paul Grundy, Global Director – Healthcare Transformation, HealthTeamWorks
- Natasha Pongonis, CEO, OYE! Business Intelligence
- Tom Higley, Founder, CEO, 10.10.10
- Dawnet Beverly, Sr. VP, Managing Director, Board Member, Donnelly Financial Solutions
The theme for Longmont Startup Week 2018 is “smarter. together.” Events and content throughout the week will focus on drawing together members of the community across the boundaries of industry, job function, and background with events that provide entertaining, interesting, and interactive content, unique perspectives, and a forum for the community to connect and share ideas.
Organizations like Xilinx, Limina, and Berg Hill Greenleaf Ruscitti have stepped up this year to sponsor and help develop entire tracks. This year’s Developer track is presented by Xilinx who is providing the technology to support a civic hackathon on July 21-22 in advance of the official kickoff to LSW18, as well as offering their expertise throughout the week on topics like IoT, AI, and Machine Learning. The Design track is presented by Limina with Chief Experience Officer Jon Fukuda offering his expertise around the design sprint method and hosting the LSW18 Design Battle. The Founder track is presented by Berg Hill Greenleaf and
Ruscitti and will provide content around a number of legal, financial, and human resources strategies for growing a business.
When asked why they are supporting Longmont Startup Week this year, Limina Co-Founder, Partner, and Chief Experience Officer Jon Fukuda stated “Longmont Startup Week is a spotlight highlighting the strengths of the community, accelerating networking, access to knowledge share, and opening a field of opportunity. Whether you’re a designer, hacker, hustler or investor, LSW is going to leave you with more than you came with and we couldn’t be prouder to support and participate in LSW’18.”
This year’s Longmont Startup Week schedule is also notable for its efforts toward inclusiveness and embracing the diversity of the community and its entrepreneurial ecosystem. Much of the advance marketing for the week has been done in both English and Spanish, and most of the events throughout the week will offer translation technology to all attendees, with several being delivered in Spanish and translated to English. All of the keynotes will offer ASL translation as well.
Basecamp for Longmont Startup Week will be located at CoSolve co-working space at 350 Terry Street, Suite 200, and Basecamp will be “Powered by NextLight”. NextLight was recently named the fastest ISP in the country by PCMag, and attendees will have the opportunity to drop in and experience the speed of the NextLight gigabit network at Basecamp. Basecamp will also act as a gathering place for attendees before and after sessions where they can network and refuel, pick up their Longmont Startup Week program and swag, get more information on Longmont or directions to the various session venues. CoSolve will also be host to many events throughout the week.
All Longmont Startup Week events are free to attend and open to the public. To view the full schedule and sign up for the events visit www.longmontstartupweek.com.
Volunteer opportunities are still available, and are an excellent way to get involved in this exciting week. Volunteers are needed to assist with day-of event logistics, event setup, checking in attendees, directing and assisting attendees, assisting with AV, and managing Basecamp. Visit the website for more information or contact LSW18 Volunteer Coordinator, Crystal Ingram at [email protected] to sign up.
