Longmont EDP, Cornerstone Home Lending launch “Longmont Start to Home”

Longmont, Colo.: Longmont Economic Development Partnership (EDP) and Cornerstone Home Lending today announced the launch of “Longmont Start to Home”, a unique talent relocation and retention program designed to help employees of Longmont-based employers enjoy a stress-free relocation and home buying experience from start to home.

The innovative new program is available to Longmont-based employers who are investors in Longmont EDP and prospective employers with whom Longmont EDP is working to attract or expand into the community. “Longmont Start to Home” offers comprehensive, best-in-class home buying services from leading industry professionals, simplifies the home purchase and mortgage process for Longmont-based employees or future employees, and significantly reduces relocation costs for both employer and employee. As of now, this program is nationally unique to Longmont and Longmont EDP.

Through Cornerstone Home Lending, “Longmont Start to Home” offers employees of Longmont-based employers a dedicated team focused on serving their home buying needs, whether they are relocating across the country or across town. Depending on the needs of the employee, and contributions by the employer, the program may also provide: reduced costs to employees with discounted home buying, lending, and moving fees; a $2,000 lender-paid credit from Cornerstone; reduced mortgage insurance premiums from Arch MI; exclusive access to HomeScout, a next-generation, immersive real estate search app featuring 100% MLS data; and full marketing support and resources for employers to promote the program internally.

Going forward Longmont EDP and Cornerstone also plan to partner with trusted local service providers to offer discounted services such as landscaping, home improvement, pet care, daycare, plumbing, and many more services for new home buyers taking advantage of the “Start to Home” program.

“With the ‘Longmont Start to Home’ program, we believe we have created a positively different, all-inclusive talent relocation and retention program for Longmont-based employers and their employees,” stated Lonnie Jenkins, Vice President/Regional Market Manager at Cornerstone Home Lending. “While we hope to expand the “Start to Home” program to other communities in the future, we couldn’t be more excited to launch this program in Longmont in partnership with Longmont EDP, supporting their efforts to attract and retain primary employers and the talent they need to thrive in our community.”

Longmont EDP President and CEO, Jessica Erickson, added “One of the focus areas of the Advance Longmont 2.0 economic development strategy is the attraction and retention of talent to meet the needs of Longmont’s primary industry base, and we know that access to home ownership opportunities is critical to our ability to succeed in these efforts.

The partnership with Cornerstone Home Lending and the “Longmont Start to Home” program provides a great opportunity for us to support Longmont-based employers in their efforts to attract and retain quality talent in Longmont. It’s really an additional employee benefit a Longmont-based employer can offer their employees at very little cost to the employer.”

Advance Longmont Partners Launch Strongmont Fund

Longmont, CO – In response to the unprecedented COVID-19 crisis and its vast negative impact on local small businesses and the economy, the Advance Longmont Partner Organizations have formed the Strongmont Fund.  Comprised of funds from the City of Longmont, the Longmont Downtown Development Authority, the Longmont Economic Development Partnership, and donations from the broader community, the Strongmont Fund will provide grant funding to local small businesses as they navigate the re-opening process and adapt to the ‘new normal’.  The Longmont Community Foundation is managing the fund and overseeing the grant application process.

The Strongmont Fund is a product of the COVID-19 Business Response Team (BRT), comprised of representatives from various Advance Longmont Partner Organizations – the City of Longmont, the Longmont Economic Development Partnership, the Longmont Downtown Development Authority, Visit Longmont, the Longmont Area Chamber of Commerce, the Latino Chamber of Commerce of Boulder County, the Boulder Small Business Development Center, Entrepreneurship for All, and Workforce Boulder County.

Some of the BRT’s efforts to date have included creating a coordinated business resources hub, administering surveys to understand impacts on local businesses, providing information and support navigating business assistance programs, and collecting feedback to guide its approach to providing assistance for our local business community. The BRT has continued to closely monitor developments at the Federal and State levels, advocate for the needs of the business community, and evaluate what gaps exist in funding and support for Longmont businesses. The Strongmont Fund was created to begin to address some of the funding gaps for our local businesses.

MAKE A DIFFERENCE TO LOCAL BUSINESSES
Donate to the Strongmont Fund
The community can support local businesses in a few ways: first, donate to the Strongmont Fund via the Longmont Community Foundation. The BRT has successfully secured Enterprise Zone Contribution Project designation for the Strongmont Fund, which means that any donation of $100 or more will be eligible for an additional 25% state income tax credit.  Donations are currently being accepted at https://longmontfoundation.org/giving-solutions/strongmont-fund/

Strongmont Grant applications for businesses will open on May 18, and any business that meets the criteria is welcome to apply. Interested businesses must complete the Citywide Needs Assessment to help guide the BRT in providing future support and advocacy for the Longmont small business community. The BRT will follow-up with necessary information regarding this application to the businesses who complete the assessment.

Purchase Strongmont Gear
Local merchandise agency BBP created the Strongmont logo, and the local support has continued to grow. To further benefit our local business economy, BBP has launched an online store for Strongmont merchandise, and will donate $5 from every Strongmont hat and t-shirt purchased to the Strongmont Fund. Strongmont merchandise can be purchased at https://www.surfbbp.com/store

and capital investment.

The 2020 Economic Development Impact Award Winners are:

brought LSW attendance to an all-time high, over 1,500 people, and enhanced
bilingual access with Longmont offering the only bilingual startup week in the
entire nation. Members of the 2019 LSW Core Team included: Morgan Smith,
Longmont EDP; Corey Powers, Avocet Communications; Whitedove Gannon,

• Special Recognition Award: Wendell Picket, Frontier Companies

the Longmont Area Economic Council in 2014 and would ultimately serve on
the Board for six years. In addition to serving as a Board member, Wendell

an active member of the Commercial Brokers of Longmont group and the
Advance Longmont 2.0 Place Working Group. Wendell’s leadership on the
ASPIRE Leadership Council has assisted Longmont EDP in policy positions
related to affordable and workforce housing. His background and knowledge
in both real estate and entrepreneurial development, specifically in the City of
Longmont, has been invaluable to the organization’s and the community’s
economic development efforts.

• Chair’s Choice Award: WestRac Contracting Corp.
WestRac Contracting Corp. entered the Longmont market in their search for
real estate for a client. One of their first stops was at the offices of Longmont
EDP where a wonderful partnership was born. The resulting development,
Front Range Campus, at Pike Road and Hover is now home to PODs,
DuroDyne, and the future expansion of Can Source, all projects resulting from
the joint efforts of WestRac and Longmont EDP. Recognizing the value that
Longmont EDP added to their investment in Longmont, and to the greater
community, WestRac made an offer Longmont EDP couldn’t refuse, investing
in the buildout of what today is the Advance Longmont Center at Front Range
Campus. Because of WestRac’s investment in the growth and future of
Longmont EDP and our community, Longmont EDP can now provide
resources, inspiration and spaces for Longmont’s business and civic leaders,
entrepreneurs, and innovators in 4,000 s.f., Class A office space with panoramic
mountain views. At the Advance Longmont Center, Longmont EDP not only
has a long-term home for itself, but also for Innovate Longmont, EforAll, and
the innovators and entrepreneurs they serve.

• Project of the Year: AveXis
On April 1, 2019, AveXis, a Novartis company, announced it had signed an
agreement to purchase the former AstraZeneca/Amgen advanced biologics
therapy manufacturing campus in Longmont and was immediately offering
positions to all approximately 150 employees previously employed at
AstraZeneca’s Boulder facility. They also began working with Longmont EDP
and the City of Longmont to pursue further expansion and the addition of
hundreds of additional new jobs in the near term. Now less than a year later
AveXis has opened its Longmont Zolgensma plant ready to produce SMA gene
therapy with more than 350 employees, and an expectation to have 400
working there by year’s end.###
