Use "My Favorites" to collect pages, downloads, properties, companies, and reports that you would like to keep in one place. To store a property or company or community, click on the "Add to My Favorites" button listed next to each listing. Reports that are generated are automatically saved to My Favorites. My Favorites will be saved for seven days.

KEY STEPS TO STARTING YOUR BUSINESS IN LONGMONT

These steps may vary according to the type of business, but the following guide for the 10 Key Steps to Starting a Business will give you a general idea.
 
  1. Get assistance and startup information from the Longmont EDP by contacting Ariel Wishkovsky at ariel@longmont.org or 303-651-0128
  2. Create a business plan with help from the Boulder SBDC.
  3. Determine a business name.  To verify if a name is already being used in Colorado, check the Secretary of State website.
  4. Determine the legal structure of the business.  The Business Startup Essentials class is a monthly class offered by the Boulder SBDC, designed to help you understand business entity choices.  For class dates, location and to sign up Click Here
  5. Select a site and determine zoning and site permit requirements with help from the City of Longmont Planning and Development Services Department. If you plan to operate out of your home, obtain information about requirements for home occupations by contacting Code Enforcement.
  6. Obtain any special licenses and permits here.
  7. Get City of Longmont Sales and Use tax information here.  Any business engaged in business within the City of Longmont must obtain a City Sales and Use Tax License and collect city sales tax on retail transactions within the city. Income tax information can be found through the Internal Revenue Service.
  8. Learn about employer responsibilities and state and federal employer tax information from the Colorado Department of Revenue and the Internal Revenue Service.
